Frequently Asked Questions

What is hand-printed fabric?

Hand-printed fabric is created using “flatbed” print screens on fabric laid out on a print table. Each color in the design requires it’s own screen. The fabric is printed in repeat, meaning that the print design is continuous along the length of the fabric. We apply either vat dyes or pigments. Vats are infused into the fiber of the fabric and pigments are heat bonded to the surface of the fabric.

Can I hire you to hand-screen fabric for me?

Yes, our typical customer has plans to sell their fabric either as yardage or another finished product. For example pillows or upholstery fabric.

How this is sold can vary. Some customers use the web. Some sell through a designer showroom. Others may feature their product in a boutique setting.

What is your minimum yardage?

Our minimum print yardage is 25 yards. We offer price breaks at 50, 100, 200, and 300 yard quantities.

Are you an eco-friendly printer?

Our process balances environmental concerns with product quality. We use water-based dyes that are solvent free. We create our colors in small batches trying to eliminate waste.

How do I get the screens?

The print screens that we use are created in Pennsylvania by Lebanon Valley Engraving. They are a separate company but we work closely together to ensure a high-quality product.
